Giving Thanks for Our Honorable Veterans
Veterans Day

On Veterans Day, GCSS schools honored military veterans for their sacrifices and service to our country. Local veterans within our schools and community were celebrated with student-led programs as well as patriotic exhibits on display at schools. Mundy Mill Learning Academy hosted a program with a keynote address from Carter Wood, a retired Army veteran with twenty two years of service in the military. The celebration included a performance by the GHS JROTC Drill Team, an essay recitation from fifth grader Sterling Clendenning and patriotics songs from the Mundy Mill chorus. New Holland celebrated in similar fashion with performances from the fifth grade chorus and drill team. A Veterans Appreciation Breakfast was hosted by Enota for their guests of honor. Students escorted their invited veterans to the Enota Makerspace where they were entertained with patriotic music and a catered breakfast. A wall of honor was created at Enota, displaying pictures of veterans submitted by students and staff. Schools hosted memorable celebrations in honor of veterans; showing their appreciation of the courageous men and women who fought for our freedom.
